Well... it is Saturday. But not the weekend for me, I am work. Thus my life... oh,well. Just wanted to give a quick update... I've been feeling good this week! I've had difficulty getting in enough calories so at times I am still feeling a little sluggish. But I know that will change soon.
Next week I am going to start adding in more protein, more specifically fish and egg whites. And if all goes well, then I'll add chicken back into"making healthy choices".
Back to work!

RESULTS!!
So... I think that it WORKED!! I did the liver/gallbladder flush on Sunday through Monday. First of all, when I do this again (which I will) I will do it so that the second day after I am AT HOME... and not at work :( Ugh. It was miserable.
This was my Sunday... I didnt eat anything after 2pm. That was pretty difficult especially since I was my day off. So I busied myself with 7 loads of laundry (I KNOW!!), lots of cleaning, and FOOTBALL!! Then at 6pm I made a potion of 2 tbsp epson salt and 3/4C reverse-osmosis water. Tried to drink is as fast as I could. GROSS and REPULSIVE!! Then again at 8pm I drank one more dose of the magic potion. By now I was folding laundry loads #5-7... My roommate came home at that time and saw me mid-drink. She asked me if I was okay since I looked like I was completely repulsed by something. I laughed and said, I'm trying to drink probably the more disgusting potion. She laughed and said "well, it is working at least?" I told I would get back to her tomorrow.
At 9:45, I got ready for bed since as soon as I drank the next potion I would have to lay down and go to bed for the night. I made the oil olive/lemon potion: 1/2C organic unrefined extra virgin olive oil and 3/4C organic fresh squeezed lemon juice. At 10:30pm I drank my last potion for the night and immediately laid down on my rightside with my right knee to my chest. Watched TV and fell asleep.
My alarm went off at 7am... I didnt feel much different. At least not right away. I took one more dose of the epson salt potion. This one was so hard to swallow, literally. Then I laid in bed for another hour or so watching the Today Show. About an hour later, I got ready for the day and left for work. Since about noon on Sunday I didnt have an appetite or feelings of hunger. Kinda strange but I felt fine. At work, everything started... I flushed and kept flushing everything from the deep depths of my bowels. I'll keep it non-descript as you all can just imagine. ;)
I've been very good about sticking the my low-fat, high-fiber "diet". I can't believe that I actually am sticking myself to a "diet". In my professional opinion diet is a taboo word. I prefer to say "making smarter choices". It's actually much easier to eat non-fat/ low-fat diet that I orginally imagined. But honestly, its just required pre-planning. I've had to pack food rather than "grab-n-go" in the sports cafe at work.
It's not just about strict non-fat since the gallbladder doesnt need to continue contracting to continually release the bile. So about every couple hours or so I try and eat about 5-10g of fat (good fat of course). I get to eat a square of 88% organic dark chocolate everyday... :)
Last night for dinner, I made sauted onions with bulgar wheat pasta seasoned with salt, pepper, oregano, tumeric (spice is good for your liver), splash of EVOO and garlic. It was really yummy.
Here are some of my rescent choices in a typical day that Ive been eating:
My plan over the next week is to start adding back in more fish and egg whites. Hopefully then I can add back in chicken. I just see myself in a slow recovery phase and I have to be smart about it. Its just like what I have to tell my patients just about everyday. There's nothing better than personal experience and empathy to share with them.
On another note, I've going to my second ever country concert tomorrow night and I have a new pair of cowgirl boots to go along with it!! I'm pretty pumped!! :D Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Whew...
So, I haven't been on in a while... sorry... life thew me a curve ball a couple weeks ago. It's still baffling me since my symptoms dont fit any textbook diagnosis, but regardless I am making a stand on my own and avoiding surgery. I have gallstones. Which is very surprising considering I also dont fit the textbook indications either. Oh well, such as life.
That being said, I haven't been exercising (bad I know...) since my change in diet has left me feeling sluggish and bloated. I know that doesnt make since. It should make me feel better. But its just temporary for this week.
What am I doing you say?
In the morning I drink my lemon oil potion (recipe below) and then I try and wait for an hour before eating or drinking anything else. That's been tough but I am able to stick with it since its only a week.
Then throughout the day I am drinking at least 1 liter of organic unfliltered apple juice. It's SO YUMMY!! I'll probably continue with this though not as much once this is over. Whole Foods has it by the gallon.
You're probably wondering what else am I possibly eating... well...
At least 2 organic green apples and I was able to find yummy bare fruit organic green apple chips (no other ingredients). Lara bars- the apple one.
Why? the green apples you ask
Green apples have the highest amount of pectin in them. Pectin has been shown through research to soften the gallstones. So then in conjunction with the flush diet hopefully I'll just pass the stones through!! Then Wa-La! Cured! :D
Then... LOTS AND LOTS of fiber... I add 1 tbsp of metamucil to apple juice and chug!
Other than these seemingly crazy changes I've made (just for a few more days) I've only ommitted out of my diet: saturated fats, red meat, chicken, diary products (that's been the hardest of them all), refined flour, white and brown sugar, and anything processed.
The reason I've been sluggish is that I've cut my caloric intake quite drastically which as a nutrition professional I know all too well that isnt the best thing to do. BUT it will only be a few more days and then I'll begin to add more protein back into my day... I've sure missed it. I can tell already though that I've lost a few pounds!!
Well, that is all for today. I'll keep you all posted on my diet and what happens!
Lemon potion recipe:
1 organic lemon
10 oz reverse osmosis water
1 tbsp unrefined cold-pressed organic extra virgin olive oil bottled outside US (that was a challenge to find)
Cut up the lemon (rind, seeds and all). Grind it in a blender or small food processor. Add water. Mix with the lemon. Add the EVO and mix for 60 seconds. Strain and then drink.
